The story up until now, en bref.

“Je ne regrette rien.”  I think Edith Piaf said that.  But then again she was Edith Piaf.  I’m Martin Royle, and I write.  From 2001 to 2007 I wrote songs for a DC band called Washington Social Club.  We were popular for a hot minute in Washington DC.  We did two albums, the first called “Catching Looks”, and the second called “Bigger than your Boyfriend”.  You can still find both on I-tunes, and a few of the songs found themselves into the mainstream.  We toured with all sort of big bands (Stars, Phantom Planet, Good Charlotte), we played on live network tv 14 times, we got reviews in Rolling Stone and all the major newspapers, zines. Suffice to say, I got to do many cool things, and I’m so thankful to everyone who was involved in that experience.  I even got to write this article for the Washington Post, an esoteric rant on Washington DC, I’m still pretty proud of it.  Please read it, you’ll be one of the first.  http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/01/AR2005090102050.html?sub=AR

Bands do a lot of things, breaking up being the last. But I’m still writing songs and poems with alarming frequency.  My new band, Canary will be gigging in 2010, and I have the first three EP’s ready for anyone who wants them. If you want a phsycial copy, I’m happy to send one to you. Just friend me on facebook or twitter.
